MINDFULNESS
Mind and Body
“Give us your Body for a week, and we’ll give you back your mind.” That has been our tagline and our mantra since 1989. Although it is easy to think of wellness in terms of the body, it’s evident that a holistic approach to wellness can only be when both mind and body are healthy and in harmony.
In today’s media, there is a sudden focus and noise about “mental health.” But many of us have been on the case for years. It isn’t a new phenomenon either. Many people, both soldiers and civilians, suffered from mental health issues after the second world war. But it seems that only now is there a general acceptance of mental health problems.
Employing a mixture of ancient Eastern practices and Western science allows us to help our guests achieve a better life plan.
MINDFULNESS
Tai Chi
Stroll through a Chinese city early in the morning, and you’re likely to see groups of people exercising in the park. You’ll see them moving through a series of slow, graceful movements. As their bodies flow from one exercise to the next, their minds are focused only on their deep, relaxed breathing.
Why people practice tai chi
Tai chi is a good aerobic exercise. But fitness is not the only benefit of tai chi. Here are other reasons to do tai chi:
- To improve balance, flexibility, and coordination
- To relieve pain and stiffness
- To relax the mind and relieve stress
- To improve breathing
- To achieve an overall sense of wellness

Meditation
The popularity of meditation is increasing as more people discover its benefits. Meditation is a habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. You can use it to increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings. Many people think of it as a way to reduce stress and develop concentration.
People also use the practice to develop other beneficial habits and feelings, such as a positive mood and outlook, self-discipline, healthy sleep patterns and even increased pain tolerance.
Meditation is something everyone can do to improve their mental and emotional health. You can do it anywhere, without special equipment or memberships. There’s a great variety of styles too, each with different strengths and benefits. Trying out a style of mediation suited to your goals is a great way to improve your quality of life, even if you only have a few minutes to do it each day.
