BodyHoliday’s Lockdown Cocktail – Bring a little St Lucian sunshine to your weekend

At BodyHoliday, we believe in a balanced approach to wellbeing, combining healthy living with a little indulgence. While food and drink are our body’s fuel, they are also our body’s enjoyment, playing a big part in the delights we find both on holiday and at home.

Over the past few weeks, we have shared some delicious and healthy recipes from our wonderful chefs. Now we are bringing another taste of BodyHoliday to you, with our new Lockdown Cocktail.

Incorporating lemongrass, ginger and cinnamon, which are known to provide a range of health benefits, such as regulating blood pressure and sugar levels, you’ll find this gin-based cocktail even includes a few healthy elements to bring a little balance to its indulgent base.

Created by our Piano Bar’s Stephen Peter, the Lockdown Cocktail’s orange sunset colours and palm tree inspired garnish are sure to bring a taste of St Lucian sunshine to your day.

What’s more, we will be serving this wonderful new cocktail at BodyHoliday as soon as we reopen, and we cannot wait to hear all about your experiences recreating our Lockdown Cocktail at home.

BodyHoliday’s Stephen Peter shares his recipe for creating this delicious cocktail at home:

Ingredients

For BodyHoliday’s Lockdown Cocktail

  • 1.5 oz of gin
  • oz of spiced herbal tea (see ingredients and method below)
  • 0.75 oz ginger juice
  • ¼ tsp of cinnamon and nutmeg combined
  • A drizzle of honey (approximately 1 tsp)
  • Ice
  • A basil garnish, made of fresh basil leaves, a cinnamon stick and lime to recreate a palm tree

Method for BodyHoliday’s Lockdown Cocktail

  • Pour the gin into the cocktail shaker, followed by the spiced herbal tea, ginger juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey.
  • Fill your glass with ice to ensure it is chilled.
  • Add two scoops of ice to the shaker, before adding its top and shaking well for approximately five seconds.
  • Empty your cocktail glass of ice and water before refilling with fresh ice.
  • Through a cocktail strainer, pour the cocktail into your glass and enjoy.

For the spiced herbal tea

  • Lemongrass
  • Rosemary
  • Ginger
  • Basil
  • Lime
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Water

This tea is made to taste and therefore quantities of ingredients should be according to your preferences.

To make the spiced tea, simply bring the water to the boil in a pan, before adding all of the other ingredients. Allow to simmer for a couple of minutes so that the herbal flavours can infuse the water. Once cooled, strain the tea into a bottle for use in BodyHoliday’s Lockdown Cocktail.
